chocolate crinkle cookies

i’m always on the look-out for baking recipes that are both delicious and pretty, so i was excited to discover chocolate crinkle cookies.  the crinkle effect comes from coating the raw cookies in icing / confectioners sugar, which then dries and cracks while the cookies are baking.  the recipe i used (from simply recipes) required 4 hours chilling, which was too big a commitment for me – i managed to get away with half an hour (just – some of the less chilled parts of the dough made slightly funny cookies when they baked).  definitely pretty and delicious i think x
